MobileSecurity.com have written an article outlining their top tips for keeping safe when purchasing online using your mobile. Some of the points I dont agree with, such as installing security software (I am not aware you can install security software on your mobile phone to monitor threats similar to your laptop or PC).
Additionally I do not agree that keeping your OS updated is appropriate as well since many devices slow down if they are updated and may introduce additional security compromises although I do agree if there area any security issues discovered this would be the way to rectify any operating system lead issue. Of course apps are updated to resolve many issues of which security is one.
Lastly I wanted to emphasis the benefit of using a secure merchant to handle the payment and clearance part of any online sale. Websites that ask for your card details risk having them stolen from their website if they are stored online. With a payment merchant such as PayPal or Google Checkout you know all your card details are not dealt with by the online shopping cart of the business you are transacting with and therefore you know your card details are only in one secure place, as opposed to being stored in as many websites as you transact with over the Internet which is, in today’s climate of industrial level online fraud, a very dangerous approach to online shopping.
