Pandora have purchased a terrestrial radio station to enable it to change its exclusive online streaming status with the US performing rights societies.
This means, like it’s main competitors, it is now regarded as a business with terrestrial radio interests and thus qualifies for a cheaper performing rights license.
I wonder why it took them so long to decide to do this. As terrestrial radio continues to decline due to the falling radio advertising spend I would have thought many opportunities would have been available to purchase a radio station earlier.
Thankfully for businesses who don’t have the budget to purchase a radio station to reduce their performing rights fees you have Melody Pods here to cut your cost of playing background music in your business.
