Managing a music library is a responsible tast for trusted individuals.
Well perhaps a little too vane to call myself the guardian of the music, but I do feel honoured to be trusted with so much great music from so many musicians.
Musicians on the whole are great friendly people. And those that have the capacity to trust others with their crafted productions have the best opportunity to bring an income in from their work.
I know as a musician myself how hard this can be at times but once you are over that bridge and realise if you want to move forward, its pretty much the only bridge to take, there are great opportunities out there.
But of course as a guardian of the music I have on many occasions turned down business opportunities because I don’t think the opportunity provides the best interests for the artist and the library.
It could be east to make myself and the artists some quick bucks sometimes but some opportunities just don’t seem right so i forgo them and hope better is ahead.
Melody Pods in particular is a great opportunity for artists who have professional productions of fully owned compositions and recordings.
With no exclusive ties to any royalty collection agencies they are free to negotiate and deal directly with libraries and businesses whilst still, where they can, appoint specific collection agencies for specific royalties to collect.
It’s not always as east as that and some country’s laws where more customer orientated collection agencies are keen to do business there are more opportunities.
But whilst I remain the guardian of the Melody Pods library of music I will continue to do my best for those I license music on behalf of.
