Yesterday Google announced its ARC application that enables Android apps to run via the Chrome platform. This doesn’t mean apps will sit inside a Chrome browser but means we can see how Chrome itself is an environment where a selection of apps can be opened and operated from on the PC and Mac (and Linux apparently).
As complicated as this sounds we are hoping this can enable a simple way for clients who don’t want to invest in tablets at all their locations from day one and can still use legacy PC installations.
We have been testing the Melody Pods app today and have found it works exactly the same as the Android tablet installation so we are really excited. To see our app working on a laptop on a mac or PC is awesome.
The flexibility that Google have enabled with Android and Chrome is really exciting and again extends the value of investing in developing on the Android platform. Subscribe to our newsletter for news of some exciting and innovative services we will be adding soon.
